E-filing, digital signature plans hailed

The initiatives of the Union Ministry of Company Affairs (MCA) on e-filing and digital signatures came in for praise from top executives of two prominent banks in this region.

Inaugurating a seminar on `MCA-21, e-filing and digital signature' - jointly organised by the Mangalore chapters of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India; and the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry - here on Saturday, Mr K.L. Gopalakrishna, Executive Director of Corporation Bank, said that MCA's initiatives on e-filing and digital signatures will help reduce the procedural delays in setting up companies in the country. He highlighted the role of company secretaries in the administration of companies.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Anantakrishna, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Bank Ltd, said that seminar should suggest steps for smoothening procedures in e-filing. A recent meeting of the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) had discussed issues related to e-filing and digital signatures. Mr Dattatreya Joshi, Chairman of the Southern India Regional Council of ICSI, spoke on the occasion.

Mr A. Srinivasa Rao, KCCI President, and Mr S.N. Srinivasa, Chairman of the ICSI Mangalore chapter, were present.
