Mobile banking counters

The South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank Ltd is planning to introduce `mobile banking counters' for its customers in the district.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr M.N. Rajendra Kumar, President of the bank, said that banking facilities would soon be provided to customers through mobile banking counters for two hours in a day at various places in the city. These mobile counters will have direct connections with the branches of the bank. SCDCC Bank has 51 branches in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

The bank registered a profit of Rs 5.12 crore during 2005-06. During the period, the bank did a business of Rs 601.99 crore. It mobilised deposits to the tune of Rs 470.31 crore, surpassing the target of Rs 450 crore set for the year.

He claimed that the bank registered 100 per cent loan recovery for the 11th consecutive year.

Mr Kumar said that the bank has plans to open a branch with ATM facility in Udupi city. The bank is also planning to set up a fund to open a training centre for staff members in cooperative organisations.
