`Nine-hour power supply not possible'

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today ruled out nine- hour power supply to farmers, but assured that all efforts would be made to ensure seven hours of supply to save the standing crops. Speaking at Navalgah village at Basheerabad mandal in Ranagreddy district about 130 km from here after the launch of Prajapatham, Dr Reddy said like last year, where the Government had incurred a daily expenditure of Rs 7 crore for purchase of power to meet the requirement of the farm sector, this year also the State would not hesitate to allocate additional funds. Dr Reddy took part in grama sabhas during the mass contact programme wherein the Government's effort would be to understand problems of the local people.
