Bangalore , April 10

Cranes Software International Ltd has acquired US-based Engineering Mechanics Research Corporation's (EMRC) US operations for $1.5 million through its US-based wholly owned subsidiary, NISA Software Inc. EMRC is a leading computer aided engineering (CAE) software player and also provides consulting services and customised software in the engineering services domain.

"This acquisition is an opportunity for us to leverage EMRC's extensive expertise in the domain of finite elements analysis and related engineering services and use its worldwide sales and support organisation network to service a wider base of customers," said Mr Asif Khader, Managing Director, Cranes Software, in a press release.

In March last year, Cranes Software had acquired EMRC's India operations to structure complex solution capabilities in the CAE space. The India acquisition marked Cranes's foray into the engineering services activity within the scientific and engineering space.

EMRC, at present, has an established global base of over 5,000 active users with significant brand awareness in the Finite Element Analysis marketplace of which around 500 users would be in India alone.
