BIAL to finalise second cargo operator by this month-end

Bangalore , April 10

The Air India-Singapore Airport Terminal Services consortium has bagged one of the two bids for cargo operations at the new Bangalore international airport.

The second one will be picked from the Bobba Group-Menzies Aviation consortium and the Swissport-Cargo Service Center consortium.

The holding company, Bangalore International Airport Ltd, said it would finalise the second cargo operator by this month-end.

BIAL said it has asked the second team to commercially match the SATS-AI bid. "The second ranked consortium will be requested to commercially match with the first ranked consortium. In case the second ranked consortium confirms to do so, BIAL will finalise the appendices with the two parties and sign the agreements as proposed.

In case the agreements cannot be concluded with the two first ranked parties in a reasonable time, BIAL will take up negotiations with the third ranked party," the release said.

Six teams were in the running for cargo, including AAI-Mysore Sales International; Jet Air-Dnata; and Reliance Energy-World Wide Flight Services.

Ground handling

BIAL board over the weekend cleared the partner evaluation for both, cargo and ground handling.
