IOB's insurance scheme for NRIs

Chennai, April 11

Indian Overseas Bank on Tuesday launched a scheme for non-resident Indians, which aims at providing "all conceivable insurance cover required by NRIs when on a visit to India." The scheme is being launched in association with United India Insurance. For a premium of Rs 250, protection is offered from personal accident (total and partial disability), ambulance charges, loss of baggage and delay in checked-in baggage and loss of passport, up to a value of Rs 1 lakh. While these cover are provided for NRIs on a visit to India for a period of 180 days, house insurance is available for a full year. The NRI can also additionally opt health insurance cover for additional premium. The scheme was launched here by the Chairmen and Managing Directors of IOB and United India Insurance, Mr T.S. Narayanasami and Mr M.K. Garg.
