Cogent EMR bets on radiation solutions

Nithya Subramanian

New Delhi , April 11

The New Delhi-based Cogent EMR Solutions Pvt Ltd, which offers remedies to tackle radiation, has charted an aggressive expansion plan that includes achieving a turnover of Rs 350 crore in the next five years.

The company plans to manufacture and market a whole range of products such as shields for the home, absorbent patches for electronic equipment such as cell phones, specially designed shirts, gloves and so on.

It will use the latest technologies in the field of arresting unwanted and excessive radiations in critically important areas in homes, offices, factories, call centres and hospitals.

Speaking to Business Line, Mr Ashwani Gupta, President, Cogent EMR, said: "Our services include detecting radiation levels, identifying sources of radiation, arresting hazardous radiation and conducting periodic audits. We hope to achieve a turnover of Rs 150 crore by the end of 2006-07 with an annual growth rate of 15 per cent in the next few years." He hoped that Cogent EMR would cross the Rs 350-crore mark in the next five years.

Plans IPO

The company is expected to turn profitable in the first year of operations itself and is looking at the possibility of tapping the capital market with an initial public offering in the next few months.

While not divulging the IPO plans, Mr Gupta said the company plans to invest Rs 35 crore in phases in the next few years.

Last year an investment of Rs 9-10 crore has been made by the parent company, the Cogent Group, which has diverse interests in the hospitality, real estate and communications sectors. It has already set up a manufacturing facility in Daruhera, in Haryana.

Mr Gupta said except in Japan, Cogent EMR is perhaps the only country in Asia, to offer solutions for radiation. He said the company is looking for opportunities in the region and would service them from India itself.

Also, it plans to foray into the UK, West Asia and Australia in the next few months.
