Cinema Documentary on Lalgudi Jayaraman Our Bureau
VIOLINIST LALGUDI JAYARAMAN
Chennai , April 12 A documentary on violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman is proposed to be produced to preserve the essence of the violinist's contribution to Indian classical music. The documentary is to be produced by Neelambari Fine Arts, an association of fans of Lalgudi Jayaraman, and supported mainly by R. Thyagarajan, Chairman, Shriram group of companies. Announcing this at a press conference here, Thyagarajan said that the project was `not for profit' and aimed to inspire artists to higher levels of creativity.The project involves production of a documentary film that will depict Lalgudi's personality and documentation of his contribution. Specifically, it will cover the maestro's contribution as a violinist, creator of new `patantara' (style), teacher and composer. The film is to be made by Madhu Ambat, director, scriptwriter and cinematographer.
