A dud call?

Telecom major Bharti sent a very tempting invite to journalists for a joint press briefing by honchos from top Asian operators including SingTel, Maxis and Optus and beat correspondents smelt a good copy since such high-profile telecom CEOs would be available in India and that too at one place. But they were in for some disappointment. The honchos came a good 45 minutes late and to the disappointment of the waiting journalists, the announcement was not worth more than a brief item.

What followed was worse. The event managers formed something of a human wall before the CEOs and whisked them away through a back door as soon as the announcement was made. The journalists could not figure out why they were called, especially since none of the visiting CEOs was allowed to speak to them.
