Landmark to open its first store in Mumbai

Landmark, the book and music retailer is expanding its national presence with 5-6 additional stores in 2006-07.

Marking an investment of Rs 4-6 crore per store, Landmark will open its first store in Mumbai at Infiniti Mall in Andheri followed by a second store in South Mumbai.

It also plans to enter other big cities by making a beginning in Baroda. The Rs 100-crore Landmark Ltd expects topline growth to go up between 60-70 per cent post the launch of its additional stores during the course of the year.

At a press conference, Mr Himanshu Chakrawarti, Chief Operating Officer , Landmark, said, "There is a possibility of setting up Landmark corners at Westside stores, but at present we are focussing on having separate stores across the country."

At the same time, Landmark is also starting operations in Mumbai of its subsidiary company - Westland, a publishing and distribution company, which has had a restricted presence in the southern markets.
