Storage NetApp opens centre in Bangalore Our Bureau
Bangalore , April 13 Storage firm Network Appliance has inaugurated a development centre in the city, with an investment of Rs 50 crore. The $2-billion company expects to spend $150 million on capital equipment, employees and other resources in India over the next two years, said Mr David Hitz, Co-founder and Executive Vice-President, Network Appliance. The facility can seat up to 750 people (to be hired in two years), and can be extended to seat 1,200. It will house a customer support centre, partner and product engineering, product management, partner certification and global IT infrastructure support. Development in NetCache and VTL (virtual tape library) domains will be undertaken out of the Bangalore centre, said Mr Shekar Nair, President, NetApp India. Some projects in storage management and continuous data protection will also be done in Bangalore.The company stated that India's contribution would soon be critical to its growth.
