Helpdesk for easy access to EU market

Our Bureau

The helpdesk site provides useful information on EU and Member States' import requirements.

New Delhi , April 14

The on-line Expanding Exports Helpdesk launched by the European Commission in February 2004 has been designed as a service for exporters from developing countries to access the EU market easily, according to the Counsellor (Trade and Economic Affairs) of the Delegation of the European Commission to India, Bhutan and Nepal, Mr Stefano Gatto.

The service can be accessed by logging on to htttp://export-help.cec.eu.int. The Web site provides free and user-friendly service for information seekers online on EU and Member States' import requirements as well internal taxes applicable to products and information on EU preferential import regimes benefiting developing countries. The site could be a marketplace where exporters from developing countries could establish contacts with importers from the EU and the site provides links to other authorities and international organisations involved in practical trade operations and trade promotion.

He said the helpdesk includes a multilingual version (English, French, Spanish and Portuguese); the site also accords the possibility to place detailed information requests about real-life situations encountered by exporters.
