To build hostels in all medical colleges in the State

The Cabinet also approved a proposal for relaxation of floor space index (FSI) for the construction of a hotel and mega mall in a six-acre site, which was sold for a record Rs 330 crore, earlier this year.

Hyderabad , April 17

In an effort to strengthen the healthcare delivery system in the State, the Cabinet on Monday announced its decision to create 600 posts for senior residents.

The Cabinet also decided to create hostels in all the 10 medical colleges and expects to provide Rs 1 crore for each of these hostels. It is expected that the additional job slots for doctors could mean Rs 21 crore annual outgo.

Briefing newspersons here today after the Cabinet meeting, the State Information Minister, Mr Mohd Ali Shabbir, said the Government has decided to introduce the Residency System in all the 10 medical colleges. This system is being followed abroad and in institutions such as the AIIMS.

This means a post graduation student and those who have completed post graduation need to stay on the hospital premises and render medical services round-the-clock while pursuing their course.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal for relaxation of floor space index (FSI) for the construction of a hotel and mega mall in a six-acre site, which was sold for a record Rs 330 crore, earlier this year.

As against the 1.5 FSI generally allowed, the builders of this complex would have the advantage of an extended FSI of 1.75, without any height restriction and a decision has been taken to exempt them from payment of impact fee as well.

LAND ALLOTTED

Alongside these decisions, the Cabinet has approved the allotment of a 10-acre site for Ramakrishna Mission and about 35 acres of land for police department in the Kadapa district.

All the ration cards would be distributed by May 15, if necessary by deploying more cameras in the State, the Minister said.
