Tech applications projects in judiciary lined up

With an aim to find various tech applications for the judiciary, the Minister for Science and Technology, Mr Kapil Sibal, today announced a slew of projects.

The projects include `training the trainers' of State Judicial Academies on technology applications in Law and Administration, which would be implemented by National Judicial Academy, Bhopal.

It would focus on IT, DNA finger printing & evidence, Computer forensic methods, cyber forensic among others, said a release.

Another initiative, Normative Data for Brain Electrical Activation Profiling is aimed at conducting experiments and studies for brain fingerprint profiling of individuals in order to establish the validity of this technique and standardise it as an acceptable form of opinion evidence in the court of law.

The project on Tamperproof and Secure Courtroom Digital Recording and Video Conferencing System would be implemented by CDAC, Noida; Directorate of Forensics Science, New Delhi and Directorate of Forensics Science, Gandhi Nagar.

It would aim at tamperproof courtroom recording system for digitally recording and storing the proceedings and hearings along with the retrieval and authentication system.

Other projects include Digital Pen and Paper Technology for capturing the information at police station (to be implemented by Mumbai Police and Impact Systems Pvt Ltd, Pune). Also included is a project of crime scene recording system to be implemented by Encore Software Ltd, Bangalore and Bangalore Police.
