Roadways States - Maharashtra LeasePlan starts operations in Pune Our Bureau
Pune , April 18 Fleet and vehicle management provider LeasePlan has commenced operations here, and is firming up plans to increase its footprint in the domestic markets where it plans to enter at least 9-10 new markets in the next 12 to 18 months. The company's foray into the Pune market is being driven by the rapid development of the city that is seeing a host of multinationals, which are shifting out of Mumbai and setting up shop here, said Ms Veerle Behets, Managing Director, adding that it will also tap the demand from domestic companies in the city. "We already have customers in Pune whom we have been servicing from our Mumbai office. We are very excited about our Pune operations and firmly believe that it will further augment LeasePlan's offerings and add value for the corporates in the city." The company, which has been operational in India since 1999, has a client base of over 450 customers and a fleet of over 9,500 vehicles and is planning to further strengthen its presence. "We are looking at Chandigarh as it is a strategically important place and also at Lucknow and Ahmedabad after which we might go to Kochi," Ms Behets said. "By end-2007, our fleet size will touch 15,000 units and we hope to grow to approximately 19,000 cars in the next year," she said. Headquartered in Gurgaon, LeasePlan India has offices in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
