New Projects SAB Miller increases Aurangabad unit capacity Our Bureau
Bangalore , April 18 The country's second largest beer maker, SAB Miller India, said that it has increased the capacity of its Aurangabad brewery to 84 lakh cases per year from 20 lakh cases. This is part of the $125-million investment plan spread across five years, which has been earmarked for modernising its breweries, a press statement from the company said. Phase one of the modernisation, includes improvements in the glass bottle packaging line, brew house, storage and fermentation tanks and other associated utilities. The plant boasts of a fully automated brew house with modern control system and an online display of process parameters at a central control room. The plant would have an additional 15 UNI tanks, with fully automated control system ensuring quality beer, the statement said.
Additional employment
The modernisation is also expected to create additional indirect employment of almost 50 per cent in bottle handling and warehousing operations. The phase two of the modernisation will begin in May and is expected to be completed by February 2007. "The expansion at the brewery is part of our endeavour to modernise and improve production efficiencies at all facilities, making them world-class," the Managing Director, Mr Richard Rushton, said.
