Our Bureau

Kochi , April 21

Kerala State Coir Corporation Ltd has signed an agreement with Dubai Irrigation Trade Company and has commenced export of Coco Peat. The agreement envisages the export of 30-container loads of Coco Peat, during the next one year.

The agreement was signed in Dubai towards the end of January and exports commenced recently. By the end of this week, two containers will have left for Dubai port, sources in Kerala State Coir Corporation said. Coco Peat or coir dust, which is a by-product made during the extraction of coir fibre from coconut husk, has tremendous potential for use in maintenance of gardens and orchards in the Gulf countries.

Coco Peat acts as multi-purpose soil conditioner and growing medium that can be extensively used in golf course greens, potting mixes for plant propagating and re-planting activities, mushroom farming, bonsai mixes, turf farming, garden beds, vegetable and rose gardens in the Gulf.
