Metal stocks fall on global impact

Base metal stocks Sterlite Industries, Hindalco, Nalco and Hindustan Zinc fell on Friday, after global prices of copper, zinc and aluminium declined on the London Metal Exchange over the previous two days. Sterlite Industries shares fell by 2.98 per cent (or Rs 68.50) on the BSE to Rs 2,229.95, while Hindalco shares declined by 2.06 per cent (or Rs 4.45) to Rs 211.10. Hindustan Zinc was lower by 3.89 per cent (or Rs 31.30) at Rs 774.28. Nalco went down by 3.51 per cent (or Rs 6.45) at Rs 314.40. Dealers said global base metal prices recovered their losses on Friday and this would influence sentiment positively when the market opens for trading on Monday.
