The India China Economic and Cultural (ICEC) Council, a non-government organisation, is conducting a three-day `China Investment and Trade Development Conference' in Mumbai, commencing April 27.
Focus
The conference will focus on improving bilateral economic and cultural interaction as both India and China stand to gain by banking on each other's common value systems, said Mr P.S. Deodhar, President of ICEC Council.
"India-China bilateral trade will be worth $18 billion in the current year and, hence, it is important that both these fast-growing economies complement each other", he said. It is high time we regard China as an associate in our path to development, he said.
Meet menu
The conference, to be held at the Nehru Centre Auditorium here, will be inaugurated by Mr Song Deheng, Consul - General of the People's Republic of China and presided by Dr Abid Hussain, Chairman, ICEC Council.
The first two days will witness various sessions and panel discussions on bilateral trade, IT industry, textiles, pharmaceuticals and construction.
According to the council, cultural bridging is an important factor in today's life and, hence, the conference will also include a session on `Tourism and electronic media'. Mr Deodhar said that the panellists participating in the sessions would help to draw an action plan on the future course of action of the council.
