New Delhi , April 23 The country's computer software and services exports is estimated to have exceeded the target and touched $23.49 billion during 2005-06, a 36.4 per cent jump over $17.21 billion clocked in the previous year. According to the estimates of Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), the growth in rupee terms was 34.54 per cent in 2005-06.
Overall buoyancy
"We are happy that the estimated exports for 2005-06 has overshot the target and there is an overall buoyancy in the exports as evidenced by the performance results released by major software and ITES companies in the country," Mr D.K. Sareen, Executive Director of ESC, said in a statement here. According to ESC's estimates, the rate of growth in exports of computer software and ITES achieved in 2005-06 over 2004-05 at 36.46 per cent is more or less at the same level as that witnessed in the previous year, despite the higher base. "This indicates that the rate of growth of computer software and ITES is on a sustained tempo," he said.
