Sops for cos with BC employees

Hannover, April 23

Firms from the private sector that hire people belonging to backward classes are likely to get fiscal incentives soon. In a move aimed at encouraging the private sector to hire people from the backward classes, the Government is working on a new industrial policy that would that would focus on all-inclusive growth, according to the Union Minister of Commerce, Mr Kamal Nath.

"We are working on a policy for all-inclusive growth. We plan to take it to the Cabinet in about six weeks. "We just want to broad-base the industry to ensure all-inclusive growth. There are ways to ensure it," he said, adding that the policy would include "provision of fiscal incentives."

The Government does not want to force the quota regime on the industry; the industry should come out with a gameplan, said a senior official.
