MTNL to foray into real estate

Our Bureau

New Delhi , April 25

Faced with declining revenues from the telecom sector, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) today said that the company would foray into real estate sector and is planning to form a new subsidiary for the same. The new subsidiary will also look at other investment options to generate more revenues for the company

MTNL owns large tracts of land in prime locations across Delhi and Mumbai, which could be leased out or developed for commercial purpose. The move is similar to the Government's decision to hive off real estate owned by Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd into a separate company.
