Karnataka tops with Rs 37,000 cr

New Delhi , April 25

Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) units have exported software of over Rs 1,00,809 crore during 2005-06, compared to Rs 74,019 crore in the previous year, with Karnataka leading the race with exports of Rs 37,000 crore.

Karnataka's software exports jumped 34 per cent from Rs 27,600 crore clocked in the previous year, an official release said here. Maharashtra grabbed the second slot with exports of Rs 15,500 crore in 2005-06, representing a growth of 34 per cent over Rs 11,542 crore notched in 2004-05, the release said here.

Tamil Nadu grossed exports of Rs 13,960 crore during 2005-06 as compared to Rs 10,790 crore in the previous year, while Andhra Pradesh registered software exports of Rs 12,500 crore in 2005-06 against Rs 8,270 crore in the previous year. Others in the list included Haryana (Rs 8,358 crore), Uttar Pradesh (Rs 5,476 crore), Delhi (Rs 3,520 crore), West Bengal (Rs 2,500 crore), Orissa (Rs 465 crore) and Kerala (Rs 296 crore).
