Suven Life net doubles

Suven Life Sciences Ltd has registered a growth of 36 per cent in turnover, while its net profit doubled during the financial year ended March 2006.

As per the unaudited financial results, the turnover stood at Rs 82.93 crore against Rs 60.77 crore in the previous year, while the net profit amounted to Rs 7.64 crore (Rs 3.8 crore), yielding an EPS of Rs 3.06 (Rs 1.52) on shares of Rs 2 face value.

In a press release, the company said it spent 20 per cent of its revenue on R&D during the year, which is yielding good results in intellectual property creation. The company has filed 32 product patents so far. Further, it is in final phases of filing first Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the US Food and Drug Administration during this year in the therapeutic area of CNS focusing on Alzheimer's disease, an unmet medical need, the release said.
