Mumbai, May 1

Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd has registered a growth of 26.92 per cent in sales at Rs 51.29 crore for the second quarter ending March 2006. (The company's financial year is October-November.)

The company's operating profit has reported a growth of 11.63-per cent at Rs 19.44 crore over the corresponding period last year.

However, net profit has been marginally lower at Rs 8.57 crore for the quarter on account of increased impact of depreciation and deferred taxes of the new project. The rise in sales has been driven by better realisation and increase in volumes, company release said.
