A business model for manufacture and marketing will be developed

Kolkata , May 1

The Centre is planning to create technology banks for small and medium Enterprises (SMEs) across the country.

Addressing a seminar on `Implications of the SME Bill' organised by the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI) here recently, Mr Anupam Dasgupta, Secretary, Union Ministry of Small Scale Industries, said the technology banks would provide necessary linkages to ensure that the SME units get proper technological back-up.

A comprehensive business model for manufacture and marketing of a variety of SME products will be developed through these tech banks in every State with the help of the State and Union Government and small-scale development organisations. "In West Bengal, I have asked my department to select 10 important manufacturing products in each district," said Mr Dasgupta.
