Rubber futures improve

The domestic rubber futures improved on Monday. All four contracts registered moderate gains on NMCE followed by a smart recovery in trend setting Japanese indices.

The May contract was quoted at Rs 89.35 (89), June contract at Rs 90.35 (90.06), July at Rs 89.60 (88.99) and August contract at Rs 88.60 (88.11) per kg for RSS 4.

The transactions till noon stood at 383 tonnes recording 58 tonnes in May, 256 tonnes in June, 55 tonnes in July and 14 tonnes in August.

Volumes low

The market was firm but remained in a narrow range with low volumes in the absence of active participants as most of them were in a holiday mood.

The June futures for RSS 3 improved sharply by 209 paise to 250.8 Yen (Rs 99.35) from 245.4 Yen a kg at TOCOM.

The spot rubber market remained closed on account of May Day.
