GMR awards warehouse contract to UK co

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) has awarded the cargo warehouse contract at the upcoming international airport near here to the UK-based Menzies Aviation Plc.

The contract envisaged setting up of a joint venture company for developing and managing the warehouse, Mr T Srinagesh, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of GHIAL, said in a press release here on Tuesday.

While GHIAL would hold 51 per cent of equity in the proposed venture, the UK company would wrest the remaining stake.

The 3.5-acre cargo terminal could handle one-lakh tonnes of cargo a year.

The Rs 50-crore warehouse would be a fully automatic facility, with features like elevated transfer vehicles.
