New Delhi, May 3

Retail chain Food Bazaar, Maharashtra mango farmers and the Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB) have signed an agreement that allows Food Bazaar to purchase mangoes directly from the State's farmers. "The deal is a result of the United Sates Agency for International Development's (USAID) partnership for food industry development, which helps mango farmers to improve product quality and gain direct access to larger markets," a release pointed out. According to USAID Mission Director, Mr George Deikun: "The deal streamlines the market chain by lowering transaction costs through direct purchase of mangoes from farmers. It enables them to get better returns on their produce and allows consumers to purchase high-quality mangoes at reasonable prices."
