Property stocks do well

Property stocks appear to be hogging the limelight, with many of the counters appreciating significantly in the recent past. The gainers include Unitech Ltd and Ansal Properties and Infrastructure.

According to analysts, there has been a steady build-up in property stocks. Dealers maintain the counters have witnessed sustained fund buying on valuations of the `land banks' and not earnings alone. The trigger at these counters has been the announcement of the DLF issue. Unitech ended at Rs 6,664.20, up 5 per cent, on the BSE. Ansal Properties closed at Rs 1,337.95, up 5 per cent, on the BSE.
