Uma Precision ties up with German co

Uma Precision Ltd (UPL), precision engineering solution provider,has signed a licensee agreement with Germany's Doerken MKS System GmbH & co. Kg for surface coating technology.

Mr Rajendra Z. Kankaria, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Uma Precision, has said the company would be putting up a project in Pune specially for zinc-aluminium flake coating for cathodic protection, which has advanced micro layer system that replaces hazardous plating and other coating operations.

Doerken is the technology partner for the project which will be ready by the end of 2006 and initially the entire production will be for the export market, he said. Currently, this coating is applicable for fasteners, axel, brake disc parts, machined parts, stamping parts and wheel bolt and are specified by global OEMs such as Audi, BMW, DiamlerChrysler, Fiat, Ford, GM, Mitsubushi Motor, Opel, Skoda Auto and Volvo.

It may be recalled that UPL had earlier acquired Bangalore-based Gera Auto Industries Pvt Ltd and bought a 51 per cent stake in Kontak Comforts Pvt Ltd (KCPL).KCPL manufactures rubberised coir foam mattresses, spring mattresses, pillows and seats which are supplied to the automobile sector, government enterprises and service sectors.

UPL is planning to launch factory retail outlets of bedroom furnishing at Pune, which will be later expanded to all the major cities in due course, he added.
