New Delhi, May 3

Indian Airlines is to levy a fuel surcharge of Rs 300 for all domestic travel from May 4. In a statement, the airline has said the surcharge would be applicable on all tickets issued or reissued on or after May 4. The surcharge will be applicable on both economy and business class air travel.

The statement said the hike was being implemented in view of the steep rise in the prices of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) that has touched Rs 41,950 per kilolitre from Rs 37,900.

Major domestic carriers including Jet Airways, Air Deccan and Kingfisher Airlines have already imposed a Rs 300 fuel surcharge on their domestic flights.
