Oak invests $30 m in GCI

Venture capital firm Oak Investment Partners has picked up a minority stake in IT services firm Global Consultants Inc (GCI) by investing $30 million.

The GCI Chairman and CEO, Mr Hiten Patel, said the funds would be utilised to expand the company's existing offshore delivery capacity and service capabilities in India as well as to make strategic acquisitions.

The company has a development centre in India with some 500 people. GCI plans to increase its global employee base from the current 3,000 IT professionals to over 7,500.
