`Focus on retail deposits, lending'

Mr Anantakrishna, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Bank Ltd, has urged the regional heads of the bank to focus on stable retail deposits and retail lending to ensure sustained growth.

A bank release here said that Mr Anantakrishna was speaking at the regional review conference of the bank at the head office on Friday.

Achieving profit target should be the first priority, he said, adding that profit should grow proportionate to the business growth. Stating that achievement in life or in any field calls for preparation with plan, he said, "Today's preparation determines tomorrow's achievement."

Mr P. Jayarama Bhat, Chief General Manager, gave an overall view of the progress made during 2005-06 and projections for 2006-07, the release added.
