Our Bureau

Hyderabad, May 5

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has responded positively to the Andhra Pradesh Government's appeal to set up a regional training centre in the State. "This topic has not previously been raised by the Government of India in the context of our Country Strategy Programme," said Mr Kunio Senga, Director-General of ADB's South Asia Department. In a statement released here at the 39th annual meeting of ADB's board of governors, the official said the bank was interested in facilitating regional co-operation in the South Asian region. "We would be interested to know more about the proposal," the official said. Addressing the `Advantage India' session here on Thursday, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the State's Chief Minister, had appealed to the bank to consider setting up a `Regional Training and Entrepreneurial Development Centre.'
