Gold tops Rs 10,000-mark

Gold crossed the Rs 10,000-level. Both the precious metals moved up further on the local bullion market on Saturday on stray buying interest.

Standard gold prices were up Rs 25 to end at Rs 9,970 per 10 gm from the previous close of Rs 9,945.

Pure gold (99.99) was up Rs 30 at Rs 10,020 from the previous close of Rs 9,990. Silver (.999 fineness) price was up Rs 75 at Rs 20,975 from the previous close of Rs 20,900 a kg.

Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 21,185; retail siver (per gm): Rs 22.65; Standard gold: Rs 10,065; retail ornament gold (22 carat per gm): Rs 932.

Kolkata: Silver ready: Rs 20,450; Gold ready: Rs 10,135.
