Software Taiwan team seeks software partnerships Our Bureau
The fast paced back-end work done here makes India an attractive partner.
Bangalore , May 8 A delegation from the industrial megalopolis Taiwan evinced interest in the country's software services industry here. The fast paced back-end work done here makes India an attractive partner for Taiwanese firms. "India's proximity to Western Europe market and its large domestic market make it an important country for partnership," said Mr Michael Chen, Senior Manager, Office of Committee for Information Industry Development, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan, at a summit on Monday, organised by the Manufacturer's Association for Information technology (MAIT), an apex body representing the hardware, training and R&D services sectors of the IT industry in India. "With India's vast domestic market, quality engineers and resources, and Taiwan's expertise in global logistics deployment, flexible manufacturing and sales and marketing, we can together enter the new era with innovative corporate partnership," said Mr Chirstopher Liu, President, Taiwan Kolin Co. Mr Sanjay Handu, Chairman, Southern Region, MAIT, spoke of the need to emulate Taiwan's ICT success in India. While MAIT evenly projected India as a competent destination for hardware manufacturing and design as well as software services, the Taiwanese delegation was more interested in partnering with software services firms and the "cost-competitive" software talent. The Chung-hua Institution for Economic Research was looking for talent to work in Taiwan. Manufacturing will take a few more years was the unanimous opinion by the delegates. "It is attractive for manufacturing investment for IT hardware, but not immediately," said Mr Michael Chen.
