Gold zooms by Rs 310

Precious metals firmed up further on the local bullion market on Wednesday on continued buying interest supported by strong overseas market.

Standard gold prices were up Rs 310 to end at Rs 10,265 per 10 gm from the previous close of Rs 9,955. Pure gold (99.99) was up Rs 310 at Rs 10,315 from the previous close of Rs 10,005.

Silver (.999 fineness) price was up Rs 710 at Rs 21,495 from the previous close of Rs 20,785 a kg.

Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 21,850; retail silver (per gm): Rs 23.40; Standard gold: Rs 10,375; retail ornament gold (22 carat per gm): Rs 961.

Kolkata: Silver ready: Rs 20,650; Gold ready: Rs 10,435.
