Kochi port board reconstituted

The Union Shipping Ministry has reconstituted the Board of Trustees of the Cochin Port Trust with effect from April 1.

As many as seven members representing the Government have been inducted in the newly constituted board, whose term will expire on March 31, 2008.

Mr P.M. Mohammed Haneef of the Cochin Port Staff Association and Mr C.D. Nandakumar of the Cochin Port Employees Organisation are the two members from the trade unions of the port representing labour in the board.

The Government members are from Mercantile Marine Department, Kerala Government, Cochin Customs, Shipping Ministry, Coast Guard, Navy and the Indian Railways.

However, the details of organisations in respect of other interests both to be nominated by the Government and elected category will be decided by the Ministry later.
