Sonia's victory

Sonia Gandhi's victory in the by-election may lead to the revival of pressures on her to become the Prime Minister.

Moreover, she has already made enough `sacrifices' andmake no more. And only she, as PM, can lead the coalition to victory if there is a mid-term poll. There are many in her party who are still not happy with a `newcomer' holding the PM's post.

This time, Ms Gandhi may oblige them, considering her reluctance to become Chairperson of the National Advisory Council and the publicised letter to Dr Manmohan Singh questioning his free trade policy.
