Soybean meal exports surge

Mumbai, May 11

Exports of soybean meal increased to 31,17,568 tonnes during the October 2005-April 2006 period from 12,71,199 tonnes in the same period last season, registering a 145.25 per cent growth.

Mr Rajesh Agrawal, Chairman, SOPA, said that export of soybean meal during April 2006 was 3,68,302 tonnes as against 1,12,366 tonnes during the same period last year, registering a whopping growth of 227.77 per cent.

During the review period (October-April), soybean meal was exported mainly to Vietnam (5,89,656 tonnes), China (4,88,125 tonnes), Japan (4,71,975 tonnes), Korea (4,49,373 tonnes), Indonesia (3,74,522 tonnes) and Singapore (2,07,880 tonnes).
