New Delhi , May 11

THE Government has received 65 applications from various channels for permission to downlink their programmes in India. Official sources said 10 applications were received on Thursday, including that of ZEE MGM, DAN Tamil Ozhi, Trace TV, Raj Musix and Visssa TV.

While Thursday was the last day for applying to the Government to register to downlink programmes here, the Government has clarified that a cable operator may continue to carry or include in their cable service any television broadcast or channel that has made an application to register with the Central Government on or before Thursday."Such carriage will be permitted for six months from the date of such commencement or till registration to the television channel has been granted or refused, which ever is earlier," an official statement said.
