Events Info-Tech - People Intel CEO to visit India on May 23, 24 Our Bureau
New Delhi , May 13 After the high-profile visit of its Chairman, Dr Craig Barrett, Intel's President and CEO, Mr Paul S. Otellini, is now headed for Indian shores. Mr Otellini is scheduled to come to India on May 23 and 24 and visit Bangalore and Mumbai. "He would visit Bangalore on May 23 to interact with employees, media and customers, and would then head for Mumbai to attend Intel Capital's (Intel's venture capital organisation) 7th annual global CEO summit on May 24," Mr R.K. Amar Babu, Director (S. Asia), Sales and Marketing Group, said but declined to comment on the announcements in the offing. However, with his tight schedule, the Intel CEO's current agenda does not include a stopover at New Delhi. During the upcoming visit, Mr Otellini would be accompanied by senior Intel executives including Mr Arvind Sodhani, President of Intel Capital. As many as 400 executives and leaders from different parts of the world are expected to attend at the global CEO summit in Mumbai. The event is being billed as a platform for the participants to understand the Indian business environment and would discuss at length the business opportunities in the country that can make all of Intel's portfolio companies more successful. It may be recalled that Dr Barrett, during his India visit in December 2005, had announced an investment of over $1 billion in the country spread over the next five years including expansion of research and development operations in Bangalore, marketing, education initiatives, and a new $250-million venture capital fund to invest in technology companies. On the manufacturing front, he had also said that although the discussions with Government on the possibility of establishing a plant were on, the company was not ready to announce anything yet.
