Myanmar to sell gas to India

New Delhi, May 14

The Ambassador of Myanmar to India, Mr U. Kyi Thein, has announced that a part of gas produced in his country would be sold to India. While speaking at an interactive session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, he said the bilateral trade between the two countries, which stood at $557 million in 2005, would reach $1 billion by the end of 2006. Mr Thein said, " We are particularly interested in Indian investment in pharma and we have had concrete talks with the Minister for Commerce and Trade. Besides this, we also need investment in technology, shipping", he said.
