Spot rubber prices recover

Aravindan

Kottayam , May 15

Spot rubber prices improved on Monday. The recovery in the domestic scene was led by sharp gains in international markets. Covering groups were also keen to keep the prices better possibly to attract revised quotes from major manufactures.

Sheet rubber improved to Rs 95.50 from Rs 95 and Rs 95.25 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. Ungraded rubber bounced back on renewed buying interest from the non-tyre sector.

According to observers the market showed signs of caution as it lacked quantity buyers above certain critical levels though the overseas reports were most favourable.

Futures gain

The rubber futures moved up further on NMCE. The May contract was traded at Rs 96.55 (Rs 95.15) June contract at Rs 97.92 (Rs 96.42), July at Rs 98.03 (Rs 96.40) and August at Rs 96.30 (Rs 94.78) per kg for RSS 4..

The physical rubber prices per kg follow: RSS-4: Rs 95.50 (Rs 95.00);

RSS-5: Rs 93.50 (Rs 93.00); ungraded: Rs 92.50 (Rs 91.50); ISNR 20: Rs 92.75 (Rs 92.25) and latex 60 per cent (per litre): Rs 71 (Rs 71).
