Targets poor, Govt working out modalities

MR Y.S. RAJASEKHARA REDDY

Hyderabad , May 15

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has announced that the Government would soon launch a health insurance scheme for the poor. The Government is working on modalities of the scheme, which is likely to be implemented in three months.

Addressing the `Rededication' meeting to celebrate the completion of two years of Congress Party's rule in the State here on Sunday, he said the State would subsidise two-thirds of the premium.

He said the Government was constructing six lakh houses annually.

`Jala Yagnam'

The Chief Minister said his Government would complete all the projects being taken up under the `Jala Yagnam' scheme and the integrated rural development scheme `Indiramma.

The meeting, which also coincided with the APCC (Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee) Plenary, was attended by Union Ministers Mr Manishankar Aiyar, Mr Dasari Narayana Rao and Ms Renuka Chowdhary.

In an open letter to the people released on Saturday, Dr Rajasekhara Reddy listed various developmental schemes initiated by his Government.

He appealed to the people to send him a post card, informing him on mistakes, if any, in the implementation of Government schemes.

Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party has released a list of failures of the two-year Congress Government. It alleged that the Government had deceived the people by conveniently forgetting the 146 promises it made during the election campaign.

The two-year rule was marked by corruption, violence and nepotism, Mr T. Devender Goud and Mr Y. Ramakrishnudu said, releasing the `chargesheet' on Saturday.
