Sick Units Government - Policy States - Andhra Pradesh Ailing BHPV to get relief thro' land sale: AP CM Our Bureau
Visakhapatnam , May 15 The ailing public sector undertaking Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels (BHPV) here will be provided relief through sale of Government land adjacent to it. A revival package will be approved for the purpose. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, stated this at a press meet here recently. It may be noted that for a long time the revival package is pending with the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries. The Chief Minister further said, "Things are now happening in Vizag. The Prime Minister is coming here to inaugurate the Rs 8,692-crore expansion programme of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on May 20. HPCL is also expanding its base here with Rs16,000 crore in the next three to four years and NTPC's Simhadri power project is coming up with a 1300 MW expansion programme. Brandix has started its work on 1,000 acres and is set to provide 60,000 jobs in the area (apparels) and the Pharma City activities are being taken up in a big way.'' He also referred to the new Special Economic Zone coming up in the district and the airport expansion.
