New Delhi , May 16

Fujitsu Consulting plans to increase its headcount in India to 3,500 employees in the next two years, from the current 1,000 professionals, and would invest $ 20 million to support its proposed expansion in the country.

With its recent acquisition of Rapidigm, Inc, an information technology and consulting firm, now with more than 1000 consultants and three development centres in India, Fujitsu Consulting would leverage India's burgeoning $ 22 billion information technology and business-process outsourcing industry, its Executive Vice-President, Mr Steve Kirchoff, said here.

The investment of $ 20 million would be utilised for India expansion, including a new centre in Hyderabad and expansion of the existing Pune and Noida development centres. "Our growth strategy in India is an extension of our growth strategy in North America, which is to continually enhance our services and solutions capabilities and our ability to provide sustainable business value to our clients. Adding offshore delivery capability in such key locations as India, and its dramatic growth potential, expands our ability to meet these goals," Mr Kirchoff said.

He noted that Rapidigm fitted well with Fujitsu Consulting's expertise in implementing and managing enterprise applications, IT governance, legacy systems modernisation, and application and business process outsourcing.

"Rapidigm brings enhanced experience in enterprise resource planning (ERP), business intelligence and application services capabilities," he said.
