Reliance Infocomm has built up a subscriber base of 18.5 lakh in its three years of operation in Andhra Pradesh (AP) and is going all out to make further inroads into the cell phone market, according to Mr R. Balachandran, CEO, Reliance Infocomm - AP. Reviewing the company's performance on Tuesday, he said the company had extended its operations to 400 urban and semi-urban areas in the State and 9,700 villages. "AP has an estimated 28,000 villages and we have, so far, covered more than one-third of them," he said. He said the company had built up infrastructure in a big way and optical fibre cable had been laid covering an area of 9,500 km. He said that teething problems had been overcome and "it is our aim to provide qualitative coverage.

As several new projects are coming up in the Kakinada-Visakhapatnam zone, we are conscious of the growing importance of the region." He added that there was good response for the Reliance `lifetime' offer and the company had introduced the Rs 795 plan for 10 years.
