Ernakulam DIC achieves record business

State investment subsidy disbursed to 142 units

Kochi , May 16

The Ernakulam District Industries Centre (DIC) has registered a record business during the last financial year by achieving a disbursement of Rs 4.32 crore in State Investment Subsidy and a loan repayment of Rs 1.4 crore.

The DIC officials said here that the provisional registration for small-scale industry sector touched 3,199 while permanent registration stood at 625. This is a major achievement when compared to the previous years.

The margin money loan, amounting to Rs 1.18 crore was disbursed to 80 entrepreneurs during the last financial year. The State Investment Subsidy, a major incentive given to entrepreneurs, was disbursed to 142 industrial units.

Green channel counter

The Green Channel Counter at the DIC has handled 659 cases so far. The Green Channel Counter is a fast-track mechanism that deals with issues related to licence. Similarly, the Single Window Facility, established in 2000, has settled a total of 84 cases so far, the officials said.

The DIC had a target of 2,900 units under the Prime Minister's Rozgar Yojana and the Centre sanctioned 2,951 units. A total of Rs 15.34 crore has been disbursed for the scheme.

Meanwhile, the centre had been on target in achieving the goals set under the Prathyasa Scheme. Under the scheme, the target was to launch 2,500 new untis and provide employment to 10,000 persons.

Till the end of the last financial year, the DIC has sanctioned 2,585 units that will provide employment to 9,000 people.

It has also disbursed Rs 18 lakh as growth incentive to two industrial units.

An amount of Rs 1.5 lakh has been disbursed as marketing incentive to one industrial unit.

The electronic incubation centre at the KME Engineering College, Edathala, was given Rs 40 lakh as grant.
